HP's SmartFrog Leaps Into Eclipse
HP. a company with few distinctions as of late except for in the system administration space, has announced an Eclipse plugin for is SmartFrog (Smart Framework for Object Groups) framework.
The SmartFrog framework comes with its own homegrown language for specifying the distributed configuration of systems. It appears that HP has created Eclipse support for this language. This includes the more basic syntax highlighting to more the advance use of content assist. In addition they've integrated the RMI compiler into Eclipse, allowing the easy generation of distributed objects.
It's a very promising development, however, I can't avoid commenting on the awful and ugly icons they've introduced. Just because of this, I will avoid placing them in my toolbar.
