The Higgins Trust Framework has been approved as a subproject by the Eclipse Foundation. The original proposal was dubbed the Eclipse Trust Framework (ETF). The Higgins Trust Framework platform addresses four challenges: the lack of common interfaces in identity management systems, the need for interoperability, the need to manage multiple contexts, and the need for trusted infrastructure that offers security and privacy.
