Eclipse and Mac OS X

Apple Computer's Developer Connection has published an article about using Eclipse within the Mac OS X system.

Apple's Developer connection has published a short piece on using Eclipse with the Mac OS X operating system. Here's a short summary from the article of why you should do Java development on the Mac:

  • Robust UNIX-based envrioment with extensive file management and scripting tools.
  • Bundled with open source projects like Apache, Tomcat and JBoss.
  • Java optimized and a first-class citizen

It's an interesting read for people contemplating the combination. In addition, if you're a Mac OS X user and thinking of using Eclipse then you might consider looking at the animated Essential Eclipse Visual Tutorial. It works also on Mac OS X.
